SBC Wakeboard Summer Issue
By SBC Wakeboard Press Release
Proudly announcing our biggest issue ever, SBC Wakeboard magazine kicks off the summer with a bang with its latest release.
Leading off the issue is the information-filled “Starting Dock” section. “Game On” documents some of the action that went down at the first stop of the Byerly Toe Jam. Collin Harrington reveals his top five in “High Fidelity.” Thomas Horrell lets us into his world in “First Ever.” “Shrediquette” gives a guide to which tunes you’ll want to blasting out of your tower speakers.
Check out what’s been going on behind the scenes with the filming of Oakley’s new wake team video, Push Process, in “On Set.” “Geared Up” brings you the cutting-edge trends in guys’ and girls’ clothing. We drop by the house of wakeskater Stef Tor for this edition of “Cribs.” Up-and-coming shredders Anthony Hollick and Dustin O’Ferrall get their feet wet in “Recognize.” We bring back Kevin Henshaw again in “Progression” to give you the lowdown on his stylish moves off the wake.
The Carvinal changed the way wakeboard contests were run back in 1999. Since then, it had only been held one other time, in 2001. The famous contest made its return this spring down at The Projects, and we were there to capture all the action, including the return of Mr. Parks Bonifay.
Raphael Derome is only 15, but he’s already carving out a name for himself, not only in the Canadian wake scene but south of the border as well. Check out his seven-page interview and see why he’s going to be heard from a lot more in the near future.
You know it will be a good story when you take four dudes crammed into a monster truck, towing a boat from Vancouver to Orlando, with various stops, shenanigans and dealings with the law along the way. “Living the Dream” perfectly captures what life is like for the wakeboarding nomads out there.
The concept was simple: get two of the world’s best wakeskaters, put them in front of a few cameras for a couple of days, and let the rest sort itself out. “Reed Hansen Vs. Nick Taylor” is the finger on the pulse of what’s going on in the world of wakeskating.
Our “Wakeskate, Wakesurf and PWC Buyers’ Guide” is for all those who don’t like their feet locked down or like forking over hundreds of dollars a month in gas bills—this guide is for you. Check out all of the latest skates, boards and jet-powered machines of pleasure.
Wakestock is celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, and plans are well underway to make it the best one ever. The biggest party of the summer hits Toronto Island July 26-29. Check out www.wakestock.com for all of the latest event details.
For those of you attending Surf Expo this September at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida, be sure to drop by our booth, pick up some magazines and a few cold beverages.
